The Essence of Chuck and His Legacy

Henry "Chuck" Goshay

Born February 14, 1948 to Tommy Lee and Clara Thomas Goshay, Chuck attended Mount Olive H.S. 1963-1966 where he was a three-sport letterman playing Half Back on the football team, Point Guard on the Basketball team, and a 4-year varsity starter at shortstop on the Baseball team. After graduation from Mount Olive High School, Chuck received a 4-year scholarship to play Baseball for Fort Valley State College. Chuck played 3rd base at FVSC where he set numerous records and won numerous awards. 

Chuck's most valuable achievement was being selected and added to the 1969 edition of the Most Outstanding College Athletes of America. To honor and recognize his athletic achievements, Chuck was inducted into the Inaugural Class of the Phenix City Sports Hall of Fame.   

After college Chuck went on to work 30 years for Mead Coated Board. Chuck is a member of Bethel AME Church. He is married to Rosie Mae Goshay and they have 4 children: Henry Jr, JR, Eric and Danielle.
